At skiScandinavia, our connection to Scandinavian skiing runs far deeper than simply arranging holidays. Having lived, worked and raised our own families across Norway and Sweden, we understand what transforms a ski holiday from good to exceptional – and the important role that ski school plays in creating a positive and memorable experience for both children and parents.
Within our team are Norwegian-qualified ski instructors who have played a leading role in shaping ski instruction across the region, even inspiring the adoption of a now-standard 3-hour lesson format in some Scandinavian resorts. This depth of knowledge and hands-on experience shaped our exclusive playSki and funSki programmes, combining expert instruction, personal attention and a genuine understanding of how children learn and develop on the slopes.
The result is a carefully considered ski school experience that helps children build confidence, develop their skills and enjoy their time on the slopes, whilst giving parents the reassurance that their children are learning in a fun, supportive and experienced environment.

As a skiScandinavia customer staying at SkiStar Lodge Trysil during February Half-Term or Easter, your children have access to our exclusive playSki groups for ages 3-6 years and funSki groups for ages 7-15 years.
These carefully designed lessons combine the expertise and local knowledge of Trysil's instructors with our own family-focused approach to skiing. The result is a high-quality learning experience where children build confidence, develop their technique, make new friends and discover the mountain in a fun, engaging and supportive environment.
For customers seeking alternative ski school arrangements, a full range of group lessons are also available. New beginner group lessons for children aged 7-15 years meet at the dedicated beginner area at Lift F12, with skiScandinavia providing a complimentary shuttle service from SkiStar Lodge Trysil. Adult group lessons, standard group lessons and beginner private lessons also meet at Lift F12. For customers who have skied before, private lessons can be arranged to start directly outside SkiStar Lodge Trysil, providing added convenience and a more personalised learning experience.
Designed specifically for younger children, playSki combines professional ski tuition with supervised childcare, creating a fun, supportive and engaging introduction to skiing. The programme allows children to build confidence on the snow whilst enjoying a varied mix of skiing, games and activities throughout the morning.
Designed for children who are ready to move beyond the beginner slopes, funSki combines expert local instruction, small group sizes, and a strong focus on enjoyment. The lessons help young skiers build confidence, improve their technique and discover Trysil's extensive ski area, all whilst having fun on the mountain.
For children aged 7-15 years who are new to skiing, beginner group lessons are also available. Designed to create a positive first experience on the snow, these lessons combine expert instruction with a supportive learning environment, helping young skiers build confidence, develop essential skills and establish strong foundations for future progression.
For adults looking to improve their skiing and explore the mountain, we offer comprehensive adult tuition. The lessons focus on individual coaching within a group setting to help you fine-tune your techniques and boost your confidence on the slopes. Connect with fellow skiers in a supportive and engaging environment.
For customers seeking a personalised learning experience, private lessons offer dedicated one-to-one instruction tailored entirely to your individual goals and ability level. Available for both children and adults, these sessions provide the flexibility to progress at your own pace, whether you're taking your first turns on snow or looking to improve specific aspects of your technique.
To ensure every skier receives the most appropriate instruction and enjoys skiing alongside others of a similar standard, lessons are divided into four levels. Use the guide below to help identify the level that best matches your current skiing experience and ability.
